Prompt Engineering: From Basics to Practical Application

Master the formula for writing clear, reusable prompts for daily work and improve output with each round.

Good prompts don't need to be long. What's important is that the AI understands the context, goals, and standards of the results you want. Start with a real task instead of trying to memorize dozens of disconnected tips.

5-part prompt formula

1. Role: Who should AI think like? 2. Context: Relevant data and circumstances. 3. Task: Specific outcome to be achieved. 4. Constraints: Length, tone, things to avoid. 5. Format: Table, checklist, outline, or step-by-step.

Prompt template is ready to use.

You are a B2B content specialist. Please create an outline for a small business owner on how to apply AI. Use a practical tone and avoid jargon. Return a table containing a section title, main idea, and an example for each section.

Improvement through three rounds

Round 1 checks the accuracy of the information. Round 2 asks the AI to add any missing information. Round 3 adjusts the tone and formatting. Avoid requesting everything in one large statement, as this will make it difficult to spot errors.

Checklist before using the results

- Are the objectives sufficiently specific? - Is important data provided? - Do the results have clear verification criteria? - Has sensitive information been removed?
